Term Three Turn Around

Tena ano koutou katoa,

The winter quiet has now given way to spring and our season 2007 has come to a close. After losing every game in term 2, YMP Mana Magpies came back from holidays a different team with every outing a close one right up until our last game. From the slick Horouta through to a dramatic bottom versus top of the table clash against East Coast cuzzies Coast North our boys made us proud, We won two of the last five games and took every team to the wire. I have more details to write in highlighting some terrifically talented individuals but I have to sign off for now to go and watch Uncle Wi play league. I hope Aunty Beanie (congratulations for number 3 on the way) got some photos of the Coast game today. For now, all I can say is a big thank you to Dee and Deann, Judith, Simon and Tracey, Lena, Rowe and Helen, Jane, Derek and Rose, Maurice, Paulie, Kane, Denise, Seal, Jack and my darling Wi Pewh for contributions throughout the season. Whether a starter or finisher all contributed. To our parents who made sure our players made it to the games, thank you all and keep it up. To our boys...thanks for the enthusiastic turn outs at every game. You never said die and were rewarded with winning form and more importantly a sense of brotherhood in the end. I applaud YMP and further the PBRFU for providing the solid structure, jersey's, first aid, communication and opportunities for coaches and referees to upskill. We have together laid a foundation for the team of 2008 and all the challenges and opportunities the year will bring our children. We look forward to supporting them again. In closing, we have a lot to look forward and I can't wait for our end of year barbeque and to honouring our first Under 13 graduates as we send them off to high school. YMP Mana Magpies Kia Kaha! YMP Mana Magpies Kia Toa!
